The musical talents of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart are so prodigious that it is a humbling experience to enumerate and reflect upon what he accomplished at certain times in his life while considering one's own accomplishments at the same age.

But there's not much point comparing yourself to Mozart. He is one of the greatest geniuses in human history. In a life that spanned only 35 years, Mozart wrote 600 pieces of music—many considered among the finest ever written. That's an average of one new composition every three weeks! His output compares well to that of J. S. Bach, for the Bach Werke Verzeichnis (Bach Works Catalogue) lists 1126 compositions by Bach, who lived 30 years longer than Mozart.
